On December 18, 1999 in Las Vegas,
Nevada, Bubba Blackwell again soared into the record books. Bubba accepted
the challenge from the television program, I Dare You, the Ultimate
Challenge to break the world record for jumping over buses on a Harley-Davidson.
Six months earlier on the Fourth of July 1999 in Del Mar, California, a
record crowd of 30,000 spectators watched him jump 14 buses at the Del Mar
Fair. This jump shattered Evel Knievels standing record of jumping
buses that was set back in 1975. The previous attendance record at the fair
was 17,000 held by pop singer Brandy.
Bubba rose to the challenge in shadow of the Stratoshpere Hotel, and successfully
jumped all 15 tour buses on his XR-750 and had plenty of room to spare.
The distance of the jump was over 157 feet! The show aired February 1, 2000
on UPN.
