New Jersey...... I had no idea I would like it soooo much!
Thinking that I would see nothing but asphalt, concrete and bumper-to-bumper
traffic, I didn't know I would have such a good time in New Jersey. Well......
I DID! First, we showed up at Barb's Harley-Davidson just outside of Philadelphia.
It was raining and cold. The forecast wasn't great for the event but,
we setup and got ready. Saturday morning it wasn't sunny but wasn't raining.
Cool and overcast, the crowd was not big but was enough for a fun time.
One of the first TV newscasters to ever do an interview on me, is now
a big time sports caster in Philadelphia. Lance Crawford now works for
Comcast in Philly and came to the event. It was great seeing him there
and catching up on what has been going on in each others careers. The
shows went well with good crowd reaction and of course Barb liked it.....
Lance gave us great exposure on the news that night.
Loaded up and drove south to stay in the area. Jamie, Regan and myself stayed near Elmer, New Jersey at a campground for some great R and R. Met the owners of the campground and went to dinner and woods riding on dirt bikes.... (What a cool job!). Drove up to Rahway in the rain again.... Was promised by the GM of Liberty Harley-Davidson/Buell, Paul, it is going to be great tomorrow. After unloading the V-Rod for a tune-up (I opened the exhaust), we checked into the hotel. Regan has just started getting into swimming and so we spent the next few hours in the indoor pool. Woke up the next morning and Paul was right.... It was a postcard weather day. The event is called Hot Rods and Harleys. It is located in down town Rahway. Several muscle cars and Hot Rods along with Bands and motorcycle displays, fill the sidewalks and streets. We got setup and they brought out the V-Rod that the tech had got in at 5am to tune on. WOW.... If you are in the area, do yourself and your motorcycle a favor and stop in for their services. My V-Rod woke up.... THANKS MOOSE!!!!! I've got to tell you, My show is about interacting with the crowd and helping create a fun, festive atmosphere. I wasn't sure what this NJ. crowd was going to think of a Redneck Alabama Boy, and the way we do what we do. I don't have to wonder anymore. It was one of the best shows ever. The crowd wasn't reacting at first but then the light switch went off. Next thing you now, they crowd was screamin and hollering and having a good time. The first show was at 1pm and then that gave people time to go walking around and talking and possibly calling there friends. The 3pm show was huge... The crowd at this time knew what to expect and it was Rockin' from the start. I had so much fun at this event... After all was done for the day, we loaded the trailer and went to dinner with the staff at Liberty. Dinner was great and we started talking about how to setup a jump for next time.... People..... Go to New Jersey when you can. I had a Blast! Look forward to next time. Spoke to Robbie Knievel on the phone yesterday. He has a very big jump in Ohio on May 24th. Sending out well wishes and Good Luck! Bubba |
